About the game

Pixel Snake is a clean, fast take on one of the oldest video games in existence. You guide a snake made of glowing squares around a tidy grid, eating apples to grow longer. The twist in this version: walls don't kill you — when you leave one edge you wrap around to the opposite side. The only way to end a run is to run into yourself.

That wrapping rule changes everything. Classic snake is about staying inside the box; Pixel Snake is about reading the wrap-around space like a sphere, planning your turns a few moves ahead, and not cornering your own tail. It's the same game you remember, but with a genuinely different brain.

How to play

  1. Press Play (or the Space bar) to start.
  2. Steer toward the apple. Every apple you eat makes the snake one square longer and adds a point.
  3. Every five apples, the game speeds up a little — don't panic, just plan.
  4. Crash into your own body to end the run. Hitting a wall wraps you to the other side.

Five beginner tips players wish they knew

1. Use the wrap-around to your advantage

Leaving the screen isn't a mistake — it's a shortcut. A well-timed exit can save you from a dead corner and buy you a clean diagonal line across the grid.

2. Never drive directly at your own neck

The snake's body always follows its head. If you turn back into the square behind your head, you're already dead before you press the key. Give every turn a buffer square.

3. Corridors are traps when you're long

As you grow, your body becomes the real obstacle. Once you're past ~15 squares, loop around in wide arcs instead of threading between yourself and the edge.

4. Speed is earned — don't panic-steer

When the game speeds up, resist tiny twitch corrections. One decisive turn beats three panicky ones, because every extra keypress risks a self-collision.

5. Set a goal, then stop

Start with “get to 10”, then 15, then 20. Beating your own record is the game — and this version saves your best score on your device.

Why you'll like it

It's snake, but snappier. Rounds are short enough to sneak in during a break, the speed curve keeps things tense, and the wrap-around rule makes every game feel fresh instead of formulaic. No downloads, no ads blocking the way — press Play and it's on.
